His Grandfather was an outstanding road racer and his father won the Spanish Motocross Championship 10 times over - Toni Elias was born into motorcycling. He used to watch his father race and play in the family's bike shop in Manresa, developing an aptitude for handlebars before he'd even figured out how to walk. He made his World Championship debut in 2000 with the Chupa Chups team after finishing third in the Spanish championship under the guidance of Albert Puig, and is noted for his capacity for work and willingness to learn - factors that have enabled him to make constant progress as a rider.
